This is a wonderful project that is long over due. I know those involved in this and it will be done properly.

The Ronald E. Stone Veteran’s Memorial Park will be constructed in Mt. Sterling, Kentucky on a corner lot at the most prominent downtown intersection of U.S. Route 60 and Ky. Route 11 (corner of Main and North Maysville Streets.)
The memorial will consist of an “L” shaped granite wall, 130-150 feet long, 6 feet high, upon which the names of veterans will be engraved, and will include benches and a waterfall. The wall will have space for engraving approximately 4,000 veteran’s names. The estimated cost for this project is $150,000, which will be raised through donations.
Greg Stone and Lyle Stone of Mt. Sterling first conceived a memorial effort to honor Ronald E. Stone, who was killed in 1949 during the Berlin Airlift. Ronald is one of those veterans never recognized by his hometown. After further consideration, it became apparent and appropriate that the memorial should include all veterans of Montgomery County, to insure that no veteran or memory will ever again be forgotten.
On December 1, Lyle Stone and friends will be hosting a benefit concert (8-12 PM) at the Clay Center in Mt. Sterling, Ky. to assist with the financing of this project. Tickets are $25.00 per person, or $15.00 each for a couple.
Persons, businesses and organizations wishing to participate in this effort may contribute any amount from $1.00 up to:
